I am a 37 year veteran of the Film and Television industry, specializing in props. I have worked on shows such as the original JUMANJI, The Imaginaruim of Doctor Parnassus, AIien vs Predator II, X-Files and countless other TV series. It has always been a pursuit of mine to find the best metallic finish possible for our rubber or non-metallic props like guns, blades and badges.
What I have to offer here, solves that problem.
Silver Lightning has proven to be best for replication steel. Be it shiny and bright, or aged and rusty, this product has worked on hundreds of rubber stunt props like guns, edged weapons, badges and even a toaster.
FireKrome is my most unique offering. This product can give you a true reflective chrome mirror-like finish. The "unique" part of FireKrome is that it has to be activated by flame. A plumbers torch or small butane chef's torch will suffice. FireKrome must be clear coated, otherwise the finish will tarnish or if exposed to water - will simply wash off. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as you can re-do a job if you are not happy with the finish.
Reel Krome is by far the easiest product to work with I have. You can brush it on or push it through an airbrush. It gives you a very bright chrome / polished aluminum look.
Clear Kote is formulated to keep the shine on your piece. It is suited best for Silver Lightning and ForeKrome. It is a single stage lacquer you can run through an airbrush. Please not, 99% of all rattle can clear coats will dull the finish on Silver Lightning and FireKrome.
